We love volunteers!
RMHR has prided itself since our 2004 inception with being a 100% volunteer organization. That distinction changed in the winter of 2019 when an unfortunate accident sidelined Bini with a broken hip for three months. It became apparent rather quickly that we needed help. To fill that gap we hired Bill Polzin who works mornings at the rescue Monday through Friday (and as needed). We also have some other folks that work some nights and weekends when Kris is traveling.
We are an organization that survives on the generosity of our volunteers. Volunteers sometimes come and go as they adapt their schedules to new jobs, family obligations and other competing time requirements. As such, we’re always welcoming to new volunteers.
Realizing that everyone’s schedule is different, we work with volunteers to try and schedule volunteer times to meet individual needs but we do require any volunteer time on the ranch to be scheduled in advance.
Volunteer duties vary during the year and volunteer skills and desires. While cleaning pens is a perennial requirement we try as much as we can to get folks involved with the horses and work to help educate those that want to learn more. Volunteers might muck pens, groom horses, repair facilities, pick up donations, assist in charity events and shows, exercise horses and any other job that comes up. If you’re interested, please fill out the contact us form below and we’ll direct you to the right person to schedule a visit.
The rescue Leases the Abbott Ranch and for security and safety reasons we need to know when you’ll be on the property. Please do not just drop by.
